Non-profit organizations know the vital role their people (staff, volunteers, board, and leadership) play in achieving the missions and visions. Therefore, ACS is looking for a People Consultant who can partner with our organizations to guide our clients through the web of human resource foundations, navigate policy and compliance changes, help them successfully identify and implement their people engagement objectives, and use data to measure and evaluate the outcomes.
As a People Consultant, you will assess, analyze, develop, and implement creative and customized solutions that will contribute to our clients’ goals. We are looking for a professional with the ability to plan and lead a project from start to finish, communicate effectively, tackle challenges with ingenuity, research best practices to quickly become the subject matter expert, and is self-motivated and passionate about helping others.
Works closely with the Program Manager to initiate and lead programs, reports, and projects directly related to our organizations’ people: employees, volunteers, and board of directors.
Researches, analyzes, and recommends solutions to HR issues.
Conducts various projects related to HR and people, including but not limited to succession planning, compensation and benefit plan analysis, engagement, performance management, recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training.
Develops, revises, and presents recommendations to clients for HR, volunteer, and board policies and procedures.
Develops methods and procedures for compiling and analyzing data for reports, surveys, and special projects.
Creates documentation that effectively explains any changes and presents it to clients.
Conducts periodic audits of HR activities to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.
Reviews clients’ current HR and people processes and advises on improvements.
Renews knowledge of advancements in the field through continued education and presents new ideas.
Meets with assigned leadership or employees to set and achieve professional and organizational goals.
Works with clients to maximize performance and increase skills in the workplace by providing actionable guidance, advice, resources, and support.
Helps new leaders adapt to their roles.
Conducts discovery sessions to learn more about the organization’s vision for the project, goals and objectives, timelines, ownership, and risks.
Conducts comprehensive research related to the project, organization, industry best practices, effective planning, and strategic approaches.
Designs and proposes detailed projects and action plans.
Meets with client organizations to ensure continued progress and execution of action plans.
Creates a plan to communicate new objectives and processes focused on engaging the clients’ staff and managing change.
Develops presentations, training, processes, and other deliverable structures related to each project.
Conducts or assists with training the organization’s staff as needed to ensure success of the project.
Supports and monitors completed projects with commitment to adjust or enhance results from routine project evaluations.
Uses Wrike Project Management software for project and task planning, management, and reporting.
Provides consultative value on various initiatives, programs and projects based on experience and research.
Actively listens to our partner organizations for project or program opportunities and presents these back to ACS leadership for consideration.
Prioritizes assigned projects to ensure timely delivery.
Assists in planning ACS and Organization sponsored events as needed.
May be asked to work evenings or weekends occasionally to be present at ACS or Organization events.
Performs miscellaneous jobs, projects or related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in related field (HR, Business, Management, etc.) and/or equivalent education and experience required.
1-3 years’ experience with HR or leadership preferred.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or International Coaching Federation (ICF) credential is a plus.
Knowledge in any of the following areas a plus: HR, Leadership, Communications, Strategic Planning, Non-profit Management, Volunteer Management, Board of Directors, Organizational Planning, Change Management, etc.
Proven ability to manage large scale projects effectively required.
Ability to develop, train, and implement projects and deliverables to teams of various sizes.
Possesses critical thinking, ingenuity, problem-solving, creativity, and passion.
Requires an analytical approach with excellent data collection and analysis skills.
Ability to work as part of a team but is self-motivated and requires little direction.
Possesses and delivers professional products with a high standard for quality.
Exhibits intermediate to advanced skills in Office 365, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams required.
Working knowledge of Project Management Software and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively and forge relationships with key client contacts.
Excellent presentation and public speaking skills and superior written communication skills required.
Requires substantial time sitting and typing using a computer with a mouse.
Requires occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying.
May require occasional lifting, lowering, pushing, or pulling up to 20 lbs.
